QuantumIT was recently engaged to project manage and lead the architecture, design and implementation a Business Objects upgrade for a large financial institution.  The migration project involved:
- ugrading SAP Business Objects environments from XIR2 (sp2) to XIR3.1 (sp3)
- Move from physical to virtual servers  (Windows 2003)
- New parallel build to allow cutover / rollback options
- Full content migration

Technical Environment Impact

The project involved migrating both mass user and self service reporting.
- Mass User Reporting impacts:
    25,000 end users
    700 Reports  (only demand only - no schedules/instances)
    All report refresh requests via in-house developed portal using OpenDoc & ReportViewer
    100 developers
    Dev, Test and Production installations
    12 physical servers
    LDAP authentication
- Technical Environment – Self Service Reporting impacts:
    2,000 end users
    5,000 reports (100,000+ instances)
    All report refresh requests via Infoview
    100 developers
    Dev, Test and Production installations
    8 physical servers
    LDAP Enterprise
